Main purpose
This instrument is used to test the flame retardant performance of the material assembly of the position support device of wheelchair seats into horizontal or vertical samples (such as seat surface, backrest, side support, headrest, pelvic positioning belt, torso support) after being subjected to a heat source equivalent to that of a smouldering cigarette.
Technical parameter
1. A specially designed stainless steel fume hood was used to test the environment, and the size of the fume hood met the testing requirements. The test bench was installed in a closed environment inside the fume hood (the front door of the fume hood can be opened and closed, with an observation window; during the experiment, the fume hood fan is closed and the door is closed). The air circulation velocity within 100 mm ± 5 mm of the heat source in the experimental bench area was less than 0.02 m/s (the fume hood is placed in the laboratory, and both the laboratory and fume hood are closed environments. The fume hood has ventilation holes that can be connected to the laboratory air, but the wind speed is close to 0). The fume hood is equipped with air pipes that can be connected to the laboratory's ventilation ducts for smoke exhaust. The fume hood has a wind speed of 0.5-0.6m/s.
2. The equipment complies with GB/T 30661.10-XXXX ISO 16840-10:2021 。
3. The test bench complies with the provisions of ISO 8191-1. A test bench with a frame height of 450 mm ± 2 mm and a width of 450 mm ± 2 mm can be used for horizontal and vertical tests.
4. Timer range: 0~99.99 s/m/h, accuracy: ± 0.01 s.
5. Heat source: imported temperature controller and thermal sensor are used. Heating rod: HotSet HotConrol C248, consisting of two parts.
a) The heat source meets the following criteria:
- Diameter of 8 mm ± 0.5 mm;
The heating length is 75 mm ± 5 mm;
The thermal power is 200 W ± 20 W;
- Integrate K-type thermocouple at the center of the heat source;
The shortest wire length is 3 meters;
- Heat resistant wires are insulated materials;
The device used to fix the heat source during the experiment to avoid burns when operating the heat source.
b) Temperature controller:
- Temperature controllers that automatically recognize the temperature of the control area or adjust controller parameters based on models;
During the experimental period, the temperature value automatically changes with the temperature curve given by the standard.
6. Test program selection:
(1) Level test: Test in the following order:
a) Install the test sample on the testing platform or wheelchair in the testing environment, set it to a horizontal ± 3 ° angle.
b) Place the designated heat source at a center of 50 mm ± 5 mm on the surface of the test sample, parallel to the surface of the test sample; A force of 0.1-0.5 N can be applied to minimize the gap between the heat source and the surface of the test sample during testing and ensure that the heat source is in constant contact with the sample throughout the entire testing process.
c) Turn on the heat source switch. When the temperature reaches the initial point of continuous high temperature of 575 ℃± 30 ℃, the testing phase begins. Observe the subsequent combustion process and record data on developmental burning, either internal combustion or surface combustion. Remove the heat source after 60 seconds. Ignore residual light, smoke, or smoldering that stops within 20 seconds after the high temperature segment of the heating temperature curve ends.
d) Repeat a) to c) once using the same sample in an unaffected area or a new sample. Ensure that there is no carbon buildup on the heat source between two tests.
(2) Vertical test: tested according to standard regulations:
a) The test bench is placed vertically (contact surface);
b) Place the specified heat source at the center of the test sample width ± 5 mm, with the bottom edge facing upwards (0.1h+20) mm ± 5 mm;
c) Adjust the heat source within the horizontal plane to ± 3 ° of the contact surface with the tested sample. Apply a force of 0.5 N ± 0.1 N to the heat source to ensure that there is no gap between the heat source and the surface of the test sample, and ensure that the heat source is always in contact with the sample throughout the entire testing process;
d) Turn on the power switch. When the initial point of sustained high temperature of 575 ℃± 30 ℃ is reached, the testing phase begins. Observe the subsequent combustion process and record the phenomenon of progressive burning, either internal combustion or surface combustion. Remove the heat source after 60 seconds. Ignore residual light, smoke, or smoldering that stops within 20 seconds of the end of the high temperature section of the heating temperature curve;
e) Repeat a) to c) once using the same sample in an unaffected area or a new sample. Ensure that there is no carbon buildup on the heat source between two tests.
(3) Testing of Smaller Position Support Devices:
According to the standard, for position support devices smaller than the specified size, a heat source is applied to the center of the maximum area that may be exposed to a fire source during use. In these examples, the dashed box represents the maximum area that may be exposed to a fire source, and the diamond point is the center of this area. The position support device should be tested in its typical expected direction of use.
7. Test result evaluation:
a) During or after testing, there is no evidence to suggest that combustion can occur internally and/or on the surface;
b) After 20 seconds ± 1 second from the end of the high temperature section of the heating temperature curve, there is no progressive burning.
8. Users should bring their own personal protective equipment, etc.
9. Working power supply: AC220V, 50Hz.
